Meet Traveling Members
of the Atlanta Youth Committee for CARE

Hannah Cho, 16 -- Chattahooche High School

Hannah Cho Hannah is an active volunteer and an experienced traveler. She has been to Europe, Asia and Central America with school and church groups. Hannah also dedicates time to practicing the piano, which she has played for most of her life. She says learning to help others and giving of herself is an essential part of growing up.

Charles Ford, 18 -- Riverwood High School

Charles Ford Charles' extracurricular activities reflect his interest in international studies. He is a member of the Japanese club, the Spanish club and the Model United Nations. Charles says he enjoys traveling, learning and helping others. He joined the AYCC for the chance to make a difference in a people's lives.

Marina Gurvich, 18 -- Chattahooche High School

Marina Gurvich Marina has a keen interest in helping others, as demonstrated by her involvement in peer counseling and Students Against Destructive Decisions. She also enjoys dancing and playing the piano. Marina says she looks forward to working with the AYCC to improve equality and fairness around the world.

Annie Lipsitz, 18 -- Riverwood High School

Annie Lipsitz Annie says she helped start her school's AYCC because volunteering is very important to her and she did not want to pass up an opportunity to make a difference in the world. In addition to the AYCC, Annie is active in Riverwood's theater group, student council, yearbook committee and National Honor Society.

Meredith Schisler, 17 -- Riverwood High School

Meredith Schisler Meredith says the AYCC can make a real difference in the United States, as well as other countries. She says it is a great way for dedicated youth to get involved and learn about the world around them. Meredith plays soccer and edits the sports section of the Riverwood High School newspaper.

Tom Seamans, 17 -- Riverwood High School

Tom Seamans Tom enjoys playing baseball, basketball, football and golf. Tom says he branched out from sports to join the AYCC because he's interested in international affairs and wanted an opportunity to see how the world really works.

Anneke Strachan, 18 -- Riverwood High School

Anneke Strachan Anneke's activities include National Honor Society, Spanish club, student council and varsity softball. Anneke says she's participating in the AYCC because it is important to make an effort to improve the lives of people who are less fortunate.

Lauren Thompson, 17 -- Riverwood High School

Lauren Thompson Lauren is president of the student body at Riverwood and is active in a number of volunteer organizations and extracurricular activities. Lauren says the AYCC will increase awareness about global issues, connect cultures and provide an opportunity for students to become problem-solvers.

Dara Watson, 17 -- Riverwood High School

Dara Watson Dara plays varsity softball and basketball, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Dara got involved with the AYCC because she believes it's important to start helping others early in life. She says the AYCC is helping her encourage her peers to start giving to those in need.

Rosemarie Wilde, 18 -- Riverwood High School

Rosemarie Wilde Rosemarie says the AYCC offers the opportunity to donate her time to an organization that has a positive influence on the lives of people in need around the world. Rosemarie also plays varsity soccer and does sound design for the school theater group.



Meet CARE Staff Members:

Redd Mia Redd is CARE's manager of community affairs. As coordinator for CARE's volunteer activities and youth initiatives, Mia spearheads the Atlanta Youth Committee for CARE pilot program. Mia traveled with CARE to El Salvador last year.

Sangster Jason Sangster has been CARE's associate photo editor since October 2000. He has photographed various parts of the world -- including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore -- for 10 years. This is Jason's first trip with CARE and he's very excited to accompany the group.
