In Atlanta:

Peter D. Bell: President and CEO

As president and CEO of CARE, one of the world's largest international relief and development organizations, Bell is responsible for overall policy, administration and fund raising, as well as for CARE’s programs in more than 60 developing countries. Before becoming president of CARE in 1995, Bell was president of the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation. Previously, he served as president of the Inter-American Foundation and also worked for the Ford Foundation for 12 years, including 10 with its Latin American program. Bell was on CARE's board of directors for eight years, five of which he served as chairman. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Ahuma Adodoadji: Emergency Group Director

Adodoadji is responsible for guiding CARE's response to emergencies. He has more than 20 years of experience in relief and rehabilitation operations with several humanitarian organizations, including World Vision. Adodoadji also worked for the Carter Center as associate director/acting director for the African Governance Program. Most recently, he served as director of disaster response for World Relief, where he lead relief efforts in Sudan, Turkey, Kosovo, Honduras, Sierra Leone, Venezuela and Ethiopia.

Stephane Cardinal: Southern and West Africa Deputy Regional Director

With an MSc in management and an undergraduate degree in business administration, Stephane joined CARE in Canada in 1993. The focus of her work was in organization development, small economic activity development and food security. Overseas she was deputy coordinator for the CARE rural maintenance project in Bangladesh , then SEAD coordinator and assistant country director in Zimbabwe. Key SEAD projects included: a rural microfinance program aiming to increase access to financial services; SIMBA, a program to strengthen AIDS services organizations to assist households in income generating activities; and SCORE, a project where CARE supported a local non-governmental organization to become a financial intermediary. More recently, Stephane has served as deputy director of the contracts and grants unit in Atlanta, where she spearheaded many successful efforts to secure grants and contracts for overseas offices.

In Johannesburg:

Chris Conrad: Southern and West Africa Regional Director

A development veteran of more than 20 years, Conrad has worked in Togo, Congo, Uganda, Mali, Chad, India and Haiti. As regional director, Conrad oversees a range of relief and development programs, including an innovative regional AIDS prevention program in West Africa that educates migrant workers at bus and taxi stations about how to prevent infection.
