In November 1998, CARE began distributing food to more than 250,000 refugees in Guinea's forest region, a triangle of land that protrudes into Sierra Leone.
In Sierra Leone, CARE provides emergency and development assistance to families affected by the civil war in Moyamba, Bonthe, Bombali, Port Loko and Tonkolili districts, as well as in Freetown.
