Project Information

Project Name:Fort Dauphin Urban Program (DAP)
Project Description:
The Fort Dauphin Urban Program's goal is to promote healthier living by strengthening urban governance at
multiple levels. The program's objectives are to: 1) ensure that a community-driven development approach is used in
the 11 urban districts of the town to improve service delivery to poor households. To achieve this, CARE develops
necessary tools and guidelines and provides training to facilitate community organization and the creation of local
structures representative of these communities. 2)incorporate long-range strategic planning within municipal
structures to improve water and sanitation services to the urban poor. CARE provides the municipality of Fort
Dauphin with technical assistance and training. 3) collect and use information to monitor community health and
improve urban environments. CARE provides technical assistance to key municipality staff in health surveillance and information use.
