Conservation of Borena Eco-Systems Projectcollaborates with the Ministry of Agriculture to help 30,000 Borena pastoralist families gain access to a permanent supply of food and water. CARE works with project participants to develop sustainable methods of raising livestock, constructing water tanks and water holes, as well as purchasing and storing food. CARE trains people in each community in basic veterinary practices and supplies medicines and equipment to combat disease. The project also helps women develop income-generating activities such as handicraft production and monetization of food grains.
