Enabling Mobilisation and Policy Implementation for Women’s Rights (EMPOWER)
Project Description:
CARE Gulf of Guinea (Benin Program) Enabling Mobilisation and Policy Implementation for Women’s Rights (EMPOWER) Project will implement a range of activities to reduce GBV and support survivors in the 77 Communes of Benin. The project will raise awareness and change attitudes at individual and societal levels with special attention to men (as well as women) and support people as they change their behavior; build the capacities of the government support structures such as the Centers for Social Protection and community social systems to respond to GBV survivors needs; and improve connections and networking throughout the referral system to support and empower GBV survivors in the long term. CARE’s key local implementing partners are RIFONGA (Reseau pour l’integration des Femmes des Organisations Non Gouvernenementales et Associations Africaines), a federation of local NGOs dedicated to women’s empowerment in Benin, whose members will carry out the majority of social mobilization activities, and AFJB (Association de Femmes Juristes du Benin) a NGO providing legal services groups.
